# What the contact page shows

A contact is a person on a customer account, the people you reach out to for approvals, billing, or site access. The contact page shows their name, email, and phone numbers (with each number's type), their title or company, and the customer account they belong to.

When the customer portal feature is on for your business, a Portal pill appears next to their name - enabled when this contact has portal access and disabled (greyed) when they don't.

The Roles tab lists the properties and roles they're assigned to, and the Automations tab shows outreach involving them. Its date columns separate when the outreach started, its next pending action, and, for Job Approval outreach, the service due date behind the schedule. Use Edit to change their details, or Delete Contact to remove them.

You can ask Essential about the contact you're viewing, such as their email, phone, or which account they belong to.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.withessential.com/customers-and-work/contacts/what-the-contact-page-shows.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
