# Sign in and navigate the mobile app

The Essential mobile app is built for technicians working from the field. Search for Essential - Fire Inspection in the App Store or Play Store, then sign in with your Essential email and password.

Technicians can use the mobile app; office users should use grow\.withessential.com for full web access. If you need to set up or reset your password, tap "Reset my password" on the app login screen (or use "Reset my password" at grow\.withessential.com) and enter your email - you'll get a secure link by email to set a new password.

## Main tabs

* **Visits:** Your scheduled work. Use this to review today's visits, switch dates, open directions, clock in, add summaries, complete inspections, and attach photos or files. Always on the bar.
* **Reports:** Inspection reports at properties where you have an assigned visit inside the same past-day window as Visits, plus reports the office shared with you. Use Draft, Published, and All filters to find reports, continue drafts, or view PDFs for published reports. Always on the bar.
* **Documents:** Photos and files shared by the office, plus private files you upload yourself. On the bar unless Time Cards or Pricing pushes everything into More.
* **Timecard:** Track and submit your time. Only shown when your business has Time Cards enabled - always reached through **More**, never a direct bar tab.
* **Pricing:** Look up what an item costs, including a customer's negotiated prices. Only shown when you can create quotes or invoices - always reached through **More**, never a direct bar tab.
* **Support:** Ask Essential's AI assistant a how-to question, or switch to **Talk to a human** to chat with the Essential support team. See [Get help in the mobile app](/field-operations/mobile/get-help-in-the-mobile-app.md). On the bar unless Time Cards or Pricing pushes everything into More.

## The More tab

The bottom bar holds up to four tabs. Visits and Reports always stay there, and Documents and Support fill the other two slots when neither Time Cards nor Pricing is available to you. The moment either one is - your business uses Time Cards, or you can create quotes and invoices - there's no longer room for a direct tab for everything, so Documents, Timecard, Pricing, and Support all move into a **More** tab together. Timecard and Pricing are reached through More whenever they're available; they never sit directly on the bar themselves.

Select **More** to see large buttons for Pricing, Timecard, Documents, and Support, then select the one you want. Nothing is removed; it is one extra tap.

To get back to those buttons from a screen you opened there, tap **More** again, or tap the back arrow at the top left of the screen. If you switch to another tab and come back, **More** returns you to the screen you had open; tap **More** once more for the buttons.

If your access changes during the day - for example the office grants you quoting - your tabs can rearrange the next time the app refreshes your permissions. Check **More** if a tab you were using is no longer on the bar.

If the app shows an offline banner, some changes can still be captured and will sync when the device is back online. Wait for sync to finish before signing out or clearing app data.

When Essential applies an automatic app update, it returns you to the same app screen afterward. If that screen is no longer available in the updated app, Essential opens Visits instead.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.withessential.com/field-operations/mobile/sign-in-and-navigation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
