# What creates Invoices tasks

Invoices tasks track invoices that need attention. Overdue means the invoice passed its due date without being paid. Email Bounced means the invoice could not be delivered to the customer. Payment Failed means a payment attempt on the invoice did not go through. Print and Mail means a subscription set to "Create task to print and mail invoice to customer" generated an invoice that nobody has been emailed about: open the task, use Open Invoice to Print, post it to the customer, and mark the task complete.

You work each task by moving it through its statuses. An Invoices task can also move into a custom folder your business has added, and back to its original Invoices folder, using **Move to Folder** in Quick Actions — see [Organize task categories and folders](/administration/settings/organize-task-categories-and-folders.md). The Invoices group appears if you have permission to view invoices.

## Print several invoices together

1. Open **Tasks → Invoices → Print and Mail**.
2. Check the tasks you want to print: hover over a task and tick its checkbox, then tick the others (or click **Select all** in the bar above the list).
3. In the panel on the right, click **Print Invoices**. Essential combines the selected tasks' invoices into one PDF, in the order shown, and opens your browser's print dialog. You can print up to 100 invoices at a time.
4. Mail the invoices. The tasks stay selected, so you can mark them all complete right away: choose the status under **Task Status** and click **Apply to N Tasks**. Printing alone does not change task statuses.

On a phone or narrow window, check the invoice numbers on the tasks instead and click **Print selected (N)**.

Changing the folder, status filters, search, or sort clears your selection. If a PDF cannot be prepared, Essential tells you how many were skipped; check the printout before mailing. See [Select several tasks and work on them together](/field-operations/tasks/select-several-tasks-and-work-on-them-together.md) for everything else you can do with a selection.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.withessential.com/field-operations/tasks/what-creates-invoices-tasks.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
