# Sage Intacct account mapping and sync behavior

Sage Intacct account mapping controls how Essential billing activity appears in Sage Intacct.

Set up mappings before automatic sync is turned on. Confirm the revenue, tax, payment, refund, and adjustment accounts with your accounting team.

If your Sage Intacct environment uses dimensions such as departments, locations, classes, or projects, choose the defaults Essential should apply. Your accounting team can adjust mappings later if reporting needs change.

Essential syncs customer billing activity such as invoices, payments, refunds, fees, and related journal activity. Sync status is shown in Essential so you can see what has synced and what needs attention.

If a sync fails, review the error, update the missing mapping or Sage Intacct configuration, then retry the sync.

> **Where to find it:** Settings > Invoicing > Accounting > Sage Intacct account mapping, once Sage Intacct is enabled for your business

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.withessential.com/reporting-and-integrations/accounting/sage-intacct-account-mapping-and-sync-behavior.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
