# Apply a discount to a quote

On an open quote, expand **Additional options** (below Attachments) and click **+ Add discount** under Discounts, then use the Find or add discount field. **Additional options** opens by itself whenever the quote has a discount, and its collapsed row summarizes what is set (for example "1 discount"). Quotes whose template hides pricing have no discounts, so the section doesn't appear on them.

A discount can be a fixed dollar amount or a percentage, and you can add more than one. Discounts apply to the whole quote rather than a single line, and tax is calculated on the discounted total. You can pull a saved discount from your pricebook or enter a custom one.

Discounts can be changed while the quote is in Draft, but not after it's been sent for signature.
