# A subscription's generated invoices and metrics

When you open a saved subscription, an Invoices panel shows every invoice that subscription has generated so far, along with summary figures. The panel only appears once the subscription has created at least one invoice.

The table lists each generated invoice with its external ID, status, amount, and send/charge date. Statuses are color-coded: void and uncollectible invoices show in red, overdue in orange, and others highlighted. If an invoice has no send date yet, the date shows as a dash. The table pages five invoices at a time, and clicking a row opens that invoice.

Above the table, four metric cards summarize the invoices. Outstanding totals the amount and count of invoices that are still unpaid, partially paid, or overdue. Total Invoices totals the amount and count of every invoice generated.

The two Avg Total cards estimate an average monthly and an average annual amount: they take the average value per generated invoice and scale it by how often the subscription bills (based on its interval), then by twelve for the annual figure.

Because these figures are derived from the invoices already generated, they reflect history to date rather than a forecast, and they will look low for a brand-new subscription with only a few invoices.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.withessential.com/revenue/subscriptions/a-subscriptions-generated-invoices-and-metrics.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
